Mooral Creek Mushrooms: Kelly and Levi
This is a personal as well as surprisingly scientific journey into fungi, spores, and all the joys that go with growing them. Kelly (a stay at home mum) and Levi (a former builder) took to the hills behind Wingham to live the dream, swapping beaches for trees to enjoy a more sustainable lifestyle. With so much dependent on local conditions and no precedents set before them, they have had to learn the art of growing exotic edible mushrooms as they go, with days full of experiments and lessons which have both failed (some) and succeeded (most).
Before growing his first shiitake, Levi had never even tried one. Nowadays there’s not much he and Kelly can’t tell you about them.
